Kay Aldred
The Embodied Double Empathy Problem:
Â
In this presentation, Kay discusses the chapter in Dr Damian Miltonâs Double Empathy Reader, which she co-authored with Jill Corbyn, the Director of Neurodiverse Connection.
This work moves âthe problemâ beyond the mind and we focus on the less explored experience of what we call the Embodied Double Empathy Problem.
When people with different experiences of embodiment (emotionality, sensation, feelings, nervous system, and regulation states) interact with each other, they may struggle to empathise and comprehend the experience of each other.
Currently, there is little understanding, awareness, or discussion of different experiences of embodiment. This chapter and presentation start to address this.
