Hi I’m Nicola Reekie, 

Founder of The PDA Space. 

I know how important it is to be heard and validated after years of not having the support or understanding we needed as a family and several years of being told we needed to be ‘firmer’ or suggesting autistic strategies like timers, or rigid routines.

These strategies only made everything worse….. I was exhausted.  

It was a chance conversation which lead to learning about Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and after talking with other parents, I knew I wasn’t alone.

Which is why I created The World's Largest Annual Free PDA Summit, and how The PDA Space was created.

Since the first PDA Summit in 2020, I feel really honoured to have spoken with so many adult PDAers and professionals who understand PDA; sharing their knowledge and wisdom in both The PDA Space Summit and The PDA Space Portal.

I remember at the beginning of our PDA journey feeling so overwhelmed. There was much to learn and changes to be made if we were to meet my son's needs. The most important thing was to be gentle with myself and understand, we only knew what we knew at the time.

Progression not perfection, I make lots of mistakes!

The PDA Space is here to walk the path with you and guide you to the support you need. We do this by bringing voices together within the PDA community.

I’m looking forward to sharing with you how we can identify issues and solutions with collaboration and communication.
